SantaPark is the latest amusement park in Finland. It opened its gates 28.11.98. It is not an ordinary amusement park though, since it locates in a large cavern 50 meters (160ft) below the ground. There is a Christmas theme in the park as some of you readers may have guessed.
SantaPark locates in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lappland, on the Arctic Circle. There is a Santa Claus Village next to the park. You have to leave your cars there, since there are no parking lots near the park. The transportation to the park is via a land train. Transportation is free of charge. On the way to the park there is a reindeer park where you can see or even touch real reindeers.
The park has been designed by Santaworld Ltd, England. The construction cost approx. 40 million Finnish marks (8 million USD). The park is owned by a group of corporations. It's the most exotic place you can imagine an amusement park and the staff is extremely friendy. The 95FIM entrance fee (65FIM for the children) includes unlimited rides in the park. Unfortunately the price is far too high considering the fact that there are just four rides in the park. SantaPark is a fine place but they have to purchase more rides.

The rides are classified in four categories:
1) Major rides (children are not allowed alone or not allowed at all)
2) Family rides (children are allowed alone, but adults are also permitted)
The line between the major rides is usually a matter of opinion
3) Children's rides (adults are not allowed)
4) Attractions (other than rides)

Carousel
The carousel is quite small but it's the
most beautiful carousel one can imagine.
Magic Sleigh Ride
Sleigh Ride is the best ride in the park. You can see how the Santa's staff manufactures your christmas presents.

Rudolph's Run
This is the only ride in the park that go fast.
Santa's Helicopters
Helicopters are actually pedal cars. You can take a tour
around the main hall.
Derby
There are some midway games in the park also.
In the park there are also a play area for the children (called the Mountain Crystal), a puppet show and an AV-theatre called the Twelve Gifts for Santa Claus.
