TIVOLI SARIOLA
Updated 10.09.00
Contact DetailsSariola's Funfair is the second largest travelling carnival in the country. It's the best old time carnival I have ever seen in Finland. The carnival is more than 100 years old and you can really see it. The rides are beautifully painted with bleft colours, there is a good combination of old classics and new favourites, the appearance of the fair is immaculate, games are inviting and there are lots of show business around.
Sariola's Funfair and rivalling Suomen Tivoli have the same roots, since both carnivals are owned by the members of the same Sariola family. However, the separation took place in 1953.
Address: Tivoli Sariola, Kaenkatu 6 C 31, 04230 Kerava, Finland
Phone: +358 9 281634 or +358 400 462211 (manager Tapio Sariola) or +358 400 462027 (publicist Markku Saari)
Telefax: +358 9 281638
The rides are classified in four categories:
1) Major rides (children are not allowed alone or not allowed at all)
2) Family rides (children are allowed alone, but adults are also permitted)
The line between the major rides is usually a matter of opinion
3) Children's rides (adults are not allowed)
4) Attractions (other than rides)

Tropical Trip, 1994
Manufactured by Nottingham UK, England.
Waltzer, 1994
There is a similar Waltzer in the Sarkanniemi amusement
park. Manufactured by ARM UK LTD, England.
Saturn, 1984
Manufactured by Zamperla, Italy, which is one
of the biggest ride manufacturers in the world, if not the biggest?
Twister, 1988
You'll find another Twister in Suomen Tivoli.
This ride is actually a Sizzler. It's been manufactured by
PWS Manufacturing, England, under US licence. That is the reason for the different name.
Bumper Cars
There are 16 cars inside this dodgem track.
The track is manufactured by Reverchon, France, and cars
by Bertazzon, Italy.
Animal Carousel, 1987
Seitera's carnival has a similar ride.
Manufactured by SW Amusement Sales, England.
Cups and Saucers, 1989
Cups and Saucers are probably the most common kiddie amusement
ride. This one is manufactured by Soriani & Moser, Italy.
Chair-o-Plane, 1959
The Chair-o-Plane has been completely renowated and
repainted. It is an operating history book with images along the way of the 100
year old carnival. Manufactured in Germany in 1956, and purchased in 1959.
Paratrooper 1977
There are three Paratroopers in Finland plus two Airborns.
The original manufacturer of the Paratrooper was Frank Hrubetz.
Venetian Carousel, 1997
This carousel cost 200 000 dollars. There is a similar
ride in Sarkanniemi park by the same manufacturer (Bertazzon), but this one
is much better looking. There are simply more wooden parts used instead of plastic.>
Convoy Race, 1987
Manufactured by Sartori Italy.
Galleon, 1999
Manufactured by Zamperla, Italy.
Bottle Carousel, 1999
Manufactured by SBF, Italy.
Kiddie Chair-o-Plane
Kiddie Chair-o-Plane has been out of service
couple of years, but it has been completely renowated like its big brother.
No, it's not a Caterpillar ride
Travelling carnivals need more power than a small village.
Most carnivals have their own portable diesel generators, and are not
dependent on the outside power networks.
Large carnivals also need lots of transportation
vehicles. Sariola has 15 heavy trucks and plenty of smaller vehicles.
